NVQ Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery

This course is focused on providing the introductory knowledge and skills in carpentry and joinery. Once you have completed this course, you will be able to progress on to becoming skilled in the trade, or to progress through to an Apprenticeship. In order to complete this qualification, you must either volunteer or work in a suitable setting to support your learning.

It will raise your awareness of the harmful effects stress can have on individuals and those closest to them. UK employers reported that 12.5 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2016/17, therefore learning to manage stress can have a significant, positive effect on your mental well-being.

Award in Computer Aided Design (2D CAD)

This qualification is for you if you have some experience in computing, perhaps in construction, manufacturing or engineering design, and want to increase your knowledge and skills to improve your career. The course will look at how to start using and navigate AutoCAD to produce accurate sketches and 2D drawings. It is a practical course where you learn by completing workbooks and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Award in Parametric Modelling (3D)

Once you have developed skills in CAD then the natural progression is onto parametric modelling of 2D shapes into 3D. The course will build on the principles learned in 2D CAD and develop further knowledge in the principles of the 3D drawing environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings, and the typical composition and application of a 3D modelling system.

Award in Carpentry and Joinery

This Level 1 course introduces the learner to carpentry and joinery skills and techniques. It will enable you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery. You will learn how to produce basic woodworking joints and safely use various hand and power tools. Progression from this course is to the Carpentry and Joinery Diploma at Level 1.
