Last week, Cheshire College celebrated the success of five learners at this year’s WorldSkills UK National finals, which was hosted virtually by TV presenter Steph McGovern from her Channel 4 Packed Lunch studio.
The medal ceremony concluded the 64 competitions which took place between the 9th-19th November, where the event saw more than 470 learners compete across the UK over the two-week period.
Five Cheshire College learners each won a bronze medal in their respective categories, including 3D Digital Game Art, Graphic Design, Nail Technician and Restaurant Service.
Medallists included:
- Keanu Dowsett – 3D Digital Game Art

Learners underwent a seven-month process of regional heats and intensive training before stepping up their skills to compete against the best of the best earlier this month, placing the College 10th on the organisational league table.
Ella Banks, former Shavington Academy learner joined the College in 2020 to study A Level Art, Graphic Design and Photography. Reflecting on her WorldSkills UK journey, Ella said: “It was such a good experience! I made so many friends while I was there and gained a greater understanding of working to a real brief. I loved every single minute of the competition and can’t thank my tutors enough for all of the support.”
Dhesi, Principal and CEO, commented: ‘’We’re extremely proud of our learners and their achievements. They have all shown their determination and hard work in both their preparation and success in this event. Massive congratulations to the learners and the many colleagues who have provided endless support and guidance over so many months.”
