Learn more about the support available

We know it’s important to our students that the course they’re studying makes sense for their current lifestyle and financial obligations, as well as their future plans.

Take a look at the information about the funding available.

  • Advanced Learner Loans are also available to students aged 19 in England
  • If you are aged 19 or over, you may be expected to pay full fees. However, you will able to apply for a loan under the Government’s Advanced Learning Loans scheme to cover the cost of these fees
  • These loan repayments will be expected to start once you earn over £21,000 per year. But if you complete a QAA-recognised Access to Higher Education course, and then go onto complete a degree (or other recognised Higher Education course) you won’t have to repay the remaining loan for the Access to Higher Education course. Which means the loan you originally took out will be written off

Access to Higher Education - Applied Science pathway

“I decided to enrol on the Access to HE course as I didn’t have suitable qualifications to gain entry on to a Higher Education course. The course has been amazing and the teachers have been the best. I was scared at first but, with all the support I’ve had, I’m now going to the University of Chester to study a BA (Hons) Degree in Chemistry. Eventually I hope to become a high school Chemistry Teacher. ”
