How to apply

The Course

Our GCSE in Chemistry will teach you the skills and knowledge detailed in the AQA GCSE Chemistry single award syllabus. You will have access to a wide range of online materials and all classes take place in an inclusive and supportive environment. Our friendly and knowleagable lecturers are here to support you.

A GCSE Chemistry qualification can lead to exciting new careers in a variety of roles in areas such as healthcare, applied science, ecology, forensics and many more! Studying science can also provide you with useful transferable skills, such as research, planning, analysis, teamwork and observation skills, and our GCSE coursess will help prepare you for study at a higher level.

The course is fast-paced, so good attendance is required to ensure you keep up with the content and do not miss essential practical work. Plus regular reading from the course textbook and study at home is encouraged to maximise your success and grade at the end of the year.

  • Atomic structure and the periodic table
  • Bonding, structure, and the properties of matter
  • Quantitative chemistry
  • Chemical changes
  • Energy changes
  • The rate and extent of chemical change
  • Organic chemistry
  • Chemical analysis
  • Chemistry of the atmosphere

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but having a good level of literacy and numeracy would be advantageous.
On successful completion of the course you could progress to a Level 3 Access to Higher Education course at the College or a Level 3 qualification in Applied Science. You could also progress to employment in a variety of roles within the medical and sciences professions.
