The Course

This course provides an introduction to the key skills needed for safe and enjoyable hill and trail walking. It is designed for those who are new to outdoor walking or who want to build confidence in exploring local trails and countryside routes.

Students will learn about basic preparation, suitable clothing and equipment, navigation awareness, and how to approach walking in different environments. The course also supports personal development by encouraging teamwork, planning, and awareness of the natural surroundings.

Delivered through practical and guided sessions, this course offers a relaxed and supportive way to build outdoor experience and confidence.

There are no formal qualifications required. An interest in outdoor activity, walking, or nature is recommended.
You can progress onto a Level 2 course in Public Services, Sport or a related subject.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
