Why choose a career in Early Years & Education

The early years of a child’s life play a critical part in their development, shaping the person they will become in the future. That’s why equipping you with all the practical and personal skills you will need in the Early Years sector is so crucial.

Throughout your studies, your practical and theoretical skills will be nurtured as you develop your awareness of best practices in working with children from birth to 5 years, all the way through to Key Stage 1.

You’ll also have access to specialist work placements so you can gain experience in real-working environments as much as possible. This includes the Starting Point Day Nursery; our very own Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ on-site facility.

Introduction to Early Years Education and Care Certificate - Level 2

“I’ve always been interested in working in a caring profession and have previously studied Health and Social Care and Applied Science at the College, but studying Early Years Education has made me realise that this is what I want to do. At the start of the year, I was nervous about doing the course but the teachers have supported me throughout. I’ve loved the course and I’m now much more confident in myself and working with children.”
