This Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Applied Science – Biology is a two-year programme designed for students aiming to build a career in the science sector, with a specific focus on biological sciences. The course provides a strong foundation in core biological topics while developing analytical and research skills essential for scientific roles.
Students will study a range of units including cell biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and the fundamentals of chemistry. The programme also includes training in data handling and scientific communication, helping students apply theoretical knowledge in practical and professional contexts.
This course is suitable for those already working in the sector looking to progress, as well as those intending to pursue a science-based degree at university. Assessment is primarily through coursework and assignments. Some units may also include written tests or in-class assessments.
The HND is available for students who wish to progress from a HNC at Cheshire College. If you have obtained your HNC from another institution or have had a gap in your studies your application will be reviewed to ensure you have previously undertaken a combination of units that is complimentary to our HND programme.
