How to apply

The Course

This qualification enables you to study the principles and applications of engineering including the fundamental mechanical, electrical/electronic and mathematical principles, the engineering sectors, engineering materials, engineering processes and emerging technologies.

The qualification is designed to be taken alongside A levels as part of a study programme and can link to learning in A level STEM subjects such as Mathematics and Physics. It is an ideal course for you if wish to progress to higher education as a pathway to employment.

You will study the following mandatory units:

  • Engineering Principles
  • Engineering Applications
  • Engineering Design
  • Engineering Project

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs, including two grade 5/B (or above) and three grade 4/C (or above) including maths or English.
Engineering is a desirable subject in the manufacturing sector and applied sciences. Students are able to progress through to a HNC in relevant engineering subjects at Cheshire College, go directly to university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering or enter employment in manufacturing industries or engineering firms.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
